We started out by going out to the Lighthouse in Point Loma, and walking down the "Bayside Trail" which was labeled as "moderately steep"....let's just say they got the "steep" part right. Actually is was a great walk, about 3 miles round trip, and about 1/3 of that was on paved road, the rest was a wide dirt trail. We did the round trip in an hour, which pleasantly surprised me, considering it was "moderately steep" which translates to really easy walking down, and "Holy Crap" coming back up. We did it though, "High Fived" each other when we got back to the top, and headed (in the car) to the tide pools.
The tide was a bit high to be able to see much of the actual pools, but it was beautiful down there nonetheless...the afternoon was wrapped up with a stop at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery for a few minutes of quiet reflection, and then the trip home.
And now, just as I am finishing this up - the "cherry on top" of another wonderful day - a spectacular sunset, as seen from my backyard and my beautiful puppy out enjoying it.
It doesn't get much better than this folks.
