A-Z Monday - the Foodie Version, "S" is for Schnitzel!

Schnitzel can be made from a variety of different meats...pork, veal, chicken, etc. The meat is pounded out nice and thin, then coated in breadcrumbs and fried.
Schnitzel is delicious, golden goodness. And fattening.

Reality sucks.
So does dieting.
Happy (although late) Memorial Day & Monday!

If you'd like to see what other bloggers are drooling over for A-Z Mondays, but sure to stop by Jen's blog here.

New Bling

The pups got some new bling today. I'd ordered some new red bandannas for our group and I picked them up today. With these, and the new red shirts I ordered for the group, we are going to look sharp in the Memorial Day parade on Monday! So far I think we have about 45 people RSVP'd to walk. It should be fun!

Turning Japanese?

"I think she's turning Japanese, I think she's turning Japanese, I really think so...."

How bizarre to see Jill's picture on a Japanese newspaper! She has shown up on all over the U.S., even the U.K., and now that! How cool, and incredibly random!

The Long Weekend

As we get ready to enjoy our long holiday weekend keep the reason in mind...

It is the VETERAN,
not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN,
not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN,
not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN,
not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN,
not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN,
not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
Have a great weekend, and please remember to thank a Veteran. Kona and I will be saying thank you to everyone as we make our regular visit to the Veteran's Administration Hospital today.

Our Golden SurFUR - Jill

Our goofy girl, aka "Jammin' Jill" participated in the Loews Coronado Surf Dog competition this past Saturday. Although she didn't place this year, it was still a fantastic day!

Here are just a few (ok, maybe a couple more than a few...) pictures from the day.

Jill gets some coaching from Aunt Shirley.
Our Golden SurFUR team!
Oh, I've got "lens envy!"
Our gorgeous-goofy girl!
There were dogs of all kinds on the beach!
And a ton of on-lookers!
Proud Poppa and his girl!
All shapes and sizes surf. This is "Bobby Gorgeous" he came all the way from Hawaii for this event, and yes, I said "he"....
This is Nani, a Bernese Mountain dog that surfs like a pro!
Oh, more lens envy! There were photographers from literally all over the world at this event! Getting ready to hit the waves.
Blurry, but you get the picture...

Enough of that cold water!
Yes, we had one pooped pooch!

A duplicate blog?

Can anyone out there tell me what happens when your photo space has reached it's capacity on blogger?

Like so many of you, I tend to post a lot of pictures. Blogger says I've used over 75% of the allowed space.

OK...so then what? Is there a way to make a duplicate blog and not loose any of my posts? Is it possible to purchase more space on blogger? Hm...what to do, what to do....suggestions and advice would be appreciated.

Wordless Wednesday - Jill

Feelin' Famous - I'm on the "Tube"

I've been lucky enough to be on the tube a couple of times in the last week. Once, on Thursday evening in the background of a "10News Leadership Award" for my friend Shirley Colman, (I'll post that video soon) and again today as part of a news segment for a local station that was covering the surf competition we participated in.

Please folks...no applause. Really, come on now, it's embarrassing...(Thank you Valerie for recording this for me!!)

I also got to hang out with (OK, so not really hang out, but rather see from afar) a couple of Hollywood semi-big name stars. No, not my boy Brad, or even Robert D.Jr., but it was cool to see Owen Wilson and George Lopez up close. They were there for the premiere of the movie Marmaduke, about, what else, a DOG!

It was, to say the least, a pretty cool day. I'll have LOTS of pictures to post soon, but right now I've got to get myself cleaned up and ready to head out for dinner.

Momma's way too famous tired to cook tonight!

Flowers for a Friend

Kona and I took some flowers to our special friend, "Mr. W" at the VA hospital today. Because of the VA regulations, I'm not supposed to take pictures of the veterans...so this one will have to do. We've been visiting with this very special man for over a month now, usually at least twice if not three times a week. He is in hospice, and has no family in California, or west of the Mississippi for that matter. He is 87 years old, and is a dear, sweet, gentle, kind man. I will tell you more about him soon, but suffice it to say that Kona and I are smitten.

It's HERE!

The monster couch has arrived!
Yikes! I'm pretty sure we could fit a small village good sized family on this thing....Now to redo the rest of the room...I think I need to win the lotto! (or at least start playing!)

(Nearly) Wordless Wednesday

A mid-week meetup at the park with a few of our pals...

A little chit-chat among friends.
Time for a group picture...
Now, release the hounds!
Happy girls!
(This is the dogs' least favorite part...after they are done in the park, and have to be patient while we grab a bite for dinner)
Ah, the poor, pathetic, starved dogs. Ha ha, yeah, right! Harley and Jack sure know how to lay on the guilt thick, don't they!

Harley on the Hornblower

This past Saturday Harley and I enjoyed a Hornblower Cruise with some of our Golden friends. This is an annual event that benefits a local animal shelter. This was the first time the event was held on a Saturday, and we were worried that it was going to be super crowded, but to our surprise, it wasn't as bad as we thought it might be. We had about 35 members of our Golden Group show up, and it was a great little adventure.

Before the cruise, Harley and I walked around the harbor area a little bit, and enjoyed some of the statues and other sites.
This was the ship we went on.
We were both excited to have a little one-on-one time, and enjoy the day together.
Harley was enjoying every minute of it!
She had an ear to ear grin on her face!
She enjoyed the wind in her hair and the smell of the salt water.
San Diego has a beautiful sky line.
Hanging out with some of our friends.
I didn't realize how pink my face was getting!
Here is the majority of the Golden's that joined us.
