A "Mile of Men" & a ton of fun!

Last week a local radio station held their annual "Mile of Men" event. It's where a bunch of single men call the station and volunteer to stand on a street with big numbers, while a bunch of single women drive or walk by, see someone they like, and call into the radio station to "claim" their man. Basically its' a fun way for singles to get together, go on a big (safe) group date, paid for by the radio station, and have a fun evening out.

Our friend Jill and I (both married) sacrificed our sleep and got up to go to the Mile of Men with Bear and our friend Lisa, who were both interested in joining the fun of the group date and meeting some new people. We got to the event before the crack of dawn (6:15am) and started scouting out possible men of interest. The actual event started at 7:00am, so you had to wait until then to start calling the radio station with the numbers of they guys you are interested in. (I know, it sounds a little sexist, but everyone was there because they wanted to be there, and it was a lot of fun.) The guys were getting a kick out of it, and the women were having a blast. There were all types of men and women there, all ages, from 18 to 60-ish, short, tall, slim, and heavy. A little something for everyone.

Once 7:00am hit, it was mayhem trying to get through to the radio station. There were probably close to 100 men there, and more than several hundred women. In the long run, both Bear and Lisa got dates for the big group date, which, happens to be tonight at a nice restaurant in La Jolla. They are driving together and will keep an eye on each other. I hope they both have a great time, whether or not they make any kind of "love connection" is yet to been seen, but I'm sure they will have a lot of fun.

Trying to get through to the radio station!

We need date details! How did they go? I have this funny mind-picture of a giant snack vending machine full of men. I'll take A3 please...
