A Great Sun-Day

This past Sunday was picture perfect here in San Diego. ( I wish I could say the same about the weather for the last couple of days -although not horrible by any stretch of the means, it has been chilly, overcast, and a bit yucky, if ya know what I mean.)

Sunday was full of activity, sunshine and (mostly) fun. We started off the morning with a little "Community Service" at one of our favorite dog friendly places in the county, Fiesta Island. I am a member of a group called FIDO - Fiesta Island Dog Owners, and they were having their annual "beach cleanup." Which, basically translates to a bunch of people showing up to pick up other people's dog poop. Yeah, sounds like fun, huh? Actually, it wasn't too bad, they equip all of the volunteers with gloves, bags and "picker-uppers."
The majority of stuff we picked up was of the "doggie left-over" kind, but there were a couple of bottle, cans, assorted plastic bags, and cigarette butts as well. And a dead skunk.

Yup, leave it to Hubby to find the poor thing. But I guess it was better Hubby finding it than one of our dogs.
So, what do you do when you come across a dead skunk when you are on a beach cleanup? You pick it up and dispose of it. Go Hubby, go. Thankfully another member, our friend Jeremy was there to help with the picking up and disposal. Because, you know, there was a big EWWW factor, and I wasn't getting anywhere close to it.

Thankfully the rest of the day was a lot more along the lines of real fun. After our group finished the beach cleanup, we headed to a popular BBQ place for some lunch. We'd never been before and the food was AWESOME!

After our lunch and some hymming and hawing...we decided it was nice enough when we got home to hit the pool for a while. IT. WAS. DELIGHTFUL! Lounging in the sun, having a cool cocktail, playing some cards and listening to some good tunes. It doesn't get much better than that...unless we would have had pool-boy catering to us...and Hubby did a pretty good job of that.

The swimming looked like lots of fun. Tuck and Daisy would really like a pool, I think. Your doggies are so cute.
