A Dog Day

Yesterday was a real "Dog Day of Summer" - not just because of the heat, but because most of the activities of the day surrounded the dogs.

We started off with an early swim. It was already in the low 90's by 9:00am, so by 9:30am we were in the pool. What a wonderful way to start off the day and cool down. Valerie came over with Joey and Kealani, and the whole gaggle enjoyed the cool water!

Then, in the early afternoon, we made a visit to an off-leash area in Balboa Park to meet up with Harley's Dad, Merrill. Harley has been staying with us since Memorial Day, and it was high-time for a visit with her Poppa. Although he's not quite up for having Harley back yet, as his health is still giving him problems, it was great to be able to visit for a while. I was remiss and didn't get my camera out while we visited, (too busy throwing balls!) but I did get a cute one once we'd loaded the pups back into the car for the ride home.

Once we got home, Kona looked for the coolest spot he could find.

In the early evening, we headed out for a different park, this one in Carmel Valley. This park is notorious for having a cool evening breeze, and it was simply a delight to be there with other members of the meetup group.
