Smart Pooches

You can't tell me that these pups aren't bilingual. (They speak Bark, and English) They know what the words, "Let's go bye-bye" "Who wants to go for a walk?" "Who's hungry?" "Chow" "Where's your ball" "Let's go swimming" "Go pool" etc., (to name a few) all mean, in addition to the basic, "sit, stay, down, up, come, wait," etc...

Here's a little proof.

What words do your pups understand?

Smart doggies!
We can't say Bones(milkbones) or Ride or Walk or Outside or Ducks. Samantha & June will go nuts! Also everytime I put my jacket on they think they are going out for a walk and they start getting all excited. So I have to apologize to them that I was getting ready for work and that they are not going outside.

It's selective brilliance though. "Where's my shoe?" doesn't seem to register.

We know walkies, bye bye in the car, feed the dogs, lets go out and biscuits.

All very useful. We wish we had a pool.

Loved that...especially Kona's wide eyes! Check out what Wiki has to say about out beloved charges. But we already knew how amazing they are.

"Golden Retrievers are also noted for their intelligence and can learn up to roughly 240 commands, words and phrases. The Golden Retriever ranks fourth in Stanley Coren's The Intelligence of Dogs, being one of the brightest dogs ranked by obedience command trainability."
