I'm in the mood....

...for ice cream.

I would be lying to you if I told you that I'm not a "sweets" kind of person. I loves me some chocolate, and marzipan (a favorite German candy of mine) and German Nougat...I am particular that way...I'm not a fruit pie kind of gal, and if the cake isn't chocolate, or at least have a killer chocolate frosting (whipped cream please, not butter cream...) you can pretty much keep it.

Tonight my sweet tooth was calling for ice cream. I love ice cream of all varieties, but I'd have to say that pistachio is my all time, numero uno, favorite. It's the one thing, besides McDonalds's Fillet of Fish sandwiches, that I craved when I was pregnant with my kids, oh, so long ago...and it can't be just any pistachio. I prefer Thrifty brand...with the real, whole pistachios. YUM! Just thinking about the nice big bowl I'm about to consume makes me happy. (Oh, maybe I need a little therapy, huh?) Hubby and I jumped into the Smart car and made the short trip up to Rite Aid, formerly known as Thrifty, where they still carry the Thrifty brand ice cream, with the plan to get a cone with a couple of scoops each...who would have known that they were having a sale on half gallons? 2 for $5! Oh the joy!

Needless to say, instead of getting a couple of cones, we wound up bringing home 4 different half gallon flavors. You know, it's all economics...the 4 half gallons work out to be way cheaper than it would have been for us to keep going back for more every couple of nights. (Hey, I can justify anything!)

Who would have thought this evening would have turned out so nicely....

OMG Sue, we are sisters, I swear to you! I hate fruit in my dessert. I don't want anything about my dessert to be healthy. What is the point? I want cream (heavy, whipped or ice, doesn't matter), sugar, a significant amount of butter, hopefully some chocolate, but that's not a deal breaker, and maybe some nuts, depending on what kind and if I'm in the mood. Keep your sliced strawberries and cherries and all that crap. I also have no idea what people are talking about when they say "Oh I can't eat that, it's too rich." Sue?? What does that mean? Are they saying it's too yummy? Because how is that a bad thing. I just don't get it...

Back in the day when Russell worked nights at Thrifty so us young kids could survive San Diego lifestyle...he swore by Thrifty ice cream.
