Cuddle Time & More

The weather here is cold and wet. Not that I'm complaining, but I wish I could just be cuddled up and cozy like these two.

Must be nice! 

But...it's not to be...I have too many things going on today. Exciting things!  I've already been up to Long Beach and back today (about 180 miles round trip) and now I am home with Pickle putting the finishing touches on picking up the house. She is a great helper and I appreciate her coming down for the weekend.  You see, AJ is coming home from Indiana for Spring Break tomorrow, and he is bringing his girlfriend Alex.  We are very excited to meet her.

We've got a busy week full of fun - touristy stuff planned. She's never been to California before so we'll try to squeeze a lot in while she is here, and of course, get some quality visiting time in with our boy. 

I am REALLY excited, and that's putting it mildly.  The weather is supposed to get really nice starting Sunday so we should be good to go -and go and go!!

So, high ho, high ho, it's off to clean I go. 

CSULB- Here She Comes!

Yes, the winds of change are a blowin round here...

It seems like just yesterday when I was registering Pickle for kindergarten...and yet, there we were yesterday, registering her for her first semester of college. My oh my...I do feel old.

We got there VERY early in the morning...and while she spent the day touring the campus, I did a little shopping in the book store...

oh, choices, choices...

After the "official" stuff was done, we got to tour the dorms. First and example of what it "could" look like all made up, and then an empty room.

At the end of the day, she was tired, but very happy. Class schedule in hand and ready to head home and think about the next step - how in the world will she fit ALL of HER clothes into that tiny closet?? Ah, the stress of college!

Whew!

Almost 3 days and no update! What the heck is going on? Just the usual. Therapy visits, another graduation, and graduation party to attend, a visit to the cemetery, a Broadway show ("Wicked"-it was AWESOME!) a visit to the fair, dinner with Mom, a Halloween planning party (yes, already) another visit to the fair for ideas for the party, playing catch-up on tons of emails (I'm down to only 272 from 428 I started with this morning, whoo-hooo!) a movie with the kids and a couple of other things here and there. That just about sums up my last couple of days. Whew!

We got to see Pickle's bf Josh graduate. It was a wonderful day.

 Hmmm, I bet you can tell what the theme to this year's Halloween party will be.

 Yup, there were just a few other people at the fair. Yikes!

 Wicked was just that - wicked indeed! Wicked fun that is!

 Not a bad movie...some good, no-brainer fun.

 My new boyfriend? Maybe...

Tomorrow I take Pickle to Long Beach for her college orientation.  How did that sneak up on us? We are heading out at the crack of dawn...no, even earlier than that! Good night, sleep tight my friends, 5:00am will come quickly!

She's a Miner 49er

It's official, Pickle has decided which college she will be attending this fall. After many long months of deliberation, she has decided on California State University at Long Beach. I am happy with her choice for several reasons. First of all, it has both of the majors she is interested in -- which are Criminal Justice and Forensic Pathology. (You go Girl!) I am also happy because it is only 93 miles from home. That sure beats the 2135 miles away that Purdue (ah-hemmm, AJ!) is.

Pickle will still get the full college experience of living in a dorm away from home, but is only a short hour and a half away by car. I must admit, I do find myself breathing a sigh of relief knowing that she won't be terribly far away.

We took a drive up today to get a good look at the campus, and it was as beautiful as I'd remembered seeing it several months ago.

I was surprised at how much greenery there was on campus.

This is the performing arts center.

I am confident that this is a good choice for Pickle and that she will be happy here. She is ready for the next chapter in her life...I'm just not sure I am! She's my baby!
