I'm ready for my close up....
Greetings from a quiet Sunday evening. Hope your weekend was as enjoyable as mine. Busy, fun, family time. I can't knock it. Friday evening was spent at home, a lovely dinner with a dear friend (she cooked for the family, it ROCKED!) , a cool cocktail or two, and some relaxing in the spa. Delightful. Saturday, dinner with friends to plan an upcoming London trip. So many things to see, and only a week to do it all. I can't wait! Today was full of fun, starting off with a benefit walk for a local Humane Society, along with all of my Golden Retriever friends. Not sure who was more "pooped" after the walk, the 2 legged kids or the 4 legged, furry ones. A fun time was had by all. The afternoon was spent Geocaching. What a total blast! If you haven't tried it, I'll fill you in soon.

Ah, this is the life!
After a quick trip to the vet, and the stitches being removed, life has improved dramatically for our young pup, Kona. This is what Springtime is supposed to be like! Forget that old "cone collar!" Bring on the pool!

It's a dogs life.
Ok, so sometimes it's great to be a dog...and sometimes, not so much. My youngest Golden Retriever, Kona, just got the big "snip" done. I do feel a little bad about it, in a small way, like I am responsible for taking away his "manhood" but on the other hand, I know it's suppose to be the right thing to do. Especially since I have no intention of breeding him, and it makes them less aggressive, prevents certain cancers, etc. But ya just gotta feel bad about it sometimes. After the first day, it hasn't seemed to bother him. Our vet said to keep him "calm and quiet" for 10 days. Ha! It's lucky that I was able to keep him calm and quiet for 10 hours. He is a little spit-fire. Full of personality, and spunk. Ain't no little operation gonna keep this guy down! (Now, if they only wouldn't have used PINK thread to stitch him up! Can a pup have no dignity?) That doesn't seem to bother him either. Gotta love the cone too, what a great fashion accessory!

Feelin kinda Smart...
In a week that so far has had it's share of ups and downs, there has been a nice bright spot to focus on. This past Saturday, after months and months of waiting, we were able to take delivery of our new Smart Car. We first saw the Smart care when we were on a vacation in Europe in 2001. They were everywhere on the streets there, and we fell in love with them. They look like a giant roller-skate, or something you might see at an amusement park on a track...basically like a great big toy. But with gas inching towards $4.00 a gallon, this little baby will be a life saver, not a toy. It's fun to drive, easily reaches 75 miles an hour on the freeway, (supposedly tops out at 120mph, but I haven't tested that!) and is the cutest thing on the road! I know "cute" might not be for everyone, but I've gotta admit, I feel a bit like a celebrity when I'm driving it. People stop, stare, point, and ask me questions about it. (Is that a "real" car? - Yes....Is it electric? - No...Is it street legal? - Of course! How many miles to the gallon do you get?- around 40 to 45, which beats the heck out of my 14 miles to the gallon I get in my "beast" - an Expedition EL.) It makes driving fun again...which reminds me, I need to run to the store...I wonder how many bags of groceries will fit in my pint sized trunk?

A Golden day...

In the beginning....
...I've decided to blog....
I'll have to admit, I'm a little fascinated with the thought of writing a blog and having others read it, but for the life of me, I don't know why. I've never been one to write in a diary, or keep a journal of any type, other than when I've traveled, and that only because my feeble mind is too groggy sometimes to remember where I've been or what I've seen. Not too great for a forty-something girl. I say girl, because frankly, I sure don't feel like I'm nearly mid-way through my forties! I'm sure I must have stepped through a time-warp somewhere along the line and jumped 25 years ahead...I sure feel like I'm still in high school sometimes...
Anyway, the thought though, that someone, somewhere could possibly be interested in the day to day life of a stay at home, mom of three - nearly grown children - is fun. So I'll put it out there, and see what happens. I hope not to bore you, but I can't make that promise...
