A project

I have been hibernating today. Not in the sense that I ate myself into oblivion and crawled into bed for a long winter's sleep...which, I have to admit, does sound inviting...No, rather I have purposefully stayed away from the computer, to work on a long overdue project. I've been working on this on and off for quite some time now, (obviously more "off" than "on" or it would have been done by now.)
Today was finally the day I really got the ball rolling on it. My creative juices are finally flowing, and I made some great headway. I wish I could tell you what I'm working on, but I can't. Its a top secret birthday present, that is nearly a MONTH late. How bad is that? I have promised myself that I will have it done by this Saturday, when I am planning on having dinner with the project recipient, and dear, sweet, patient friend! (hugs and kisses Cricket) She reads my blog too, so I can't give any hints.
Gotta get back to it...I don't want those creative juices drying up on me!

Frolicking on Fiesta Island
Yay! The weather held out again today, and we were able to take the dogs to one of their all-time favorite places, Fiesta Island. The various weeds on the island are still green enough to not be a menace yet, and the foxtails haven't dried and fallen off their stems yet - thank goodness! They are the worst for our long-haired furbabies.
No worries today though, just a frolicking great time. There were lots of other friendly pups there, and we even got to meet up with Val, and her babies Joey, and Kealani (Kona's brother and little sister). Needless to say, they all ran and played until they were absolutely pooped! And as we all know, pooped pups are happy pups!
Oh, we do love Fiesta Island!

Special order
Hubby asked me what I wanted to do, and I told him I wanted to go for a drive, and take some pictures. I know, I know, it doesn't sound too exciting to most people, but it's what I wanted to do. San Diego offers so many picturesque places, that I just can't help but want to go out exploring sometimes. The weather was cool and cloudy, but the rain held off, and we had a wonderful time going on a 2 1/2 hour drive. It was so nice, relaxing and enjoyable. We started off going through Poway, Ramona, Julian, Cuyamaca, came through Lakeside, El Cajon, into the Valley, and back home. It was 112 miles round trip. Other than gas, we didn't spend a penny, but just enjoyed the views, took a few pictures, and talked. It was perfect.
Most of the pictures came out a bit darker than I liked, but I really liked this one. The sunset was gorgeous. Hubby knows how I love a beautiful sunset, and I think he special ordered this just for me.

Sending good thought Down Under
I Saw this video and it really touched me. Its a little blurry at first, but then settles in a bit.
Here is the story behind it, courtesy of the Associated Press:
Sydney, Australia -- Firefighter David Tree noticed a koala moving gingerly on scorched paws as his fire patrol passed through the charred landscape of Australia's deadly wildfires.Clearly in pain, the animal stopped when it saw him."It was amazing -- he turned around, sat on his bum and sort of looked at me. . . like, put me out of my misery," Tree said Tuesday. "I yelled out for abottle of water. I unscrewed the bottle, tipped it up on his lips and hejust took it naturally."He kept reaching for the bottle, almost like a baby."The marsupial is usually a rather grumpy creature with a loud growl andsharp claws. It rarely comes down from the trees and doesn't like walking.Koalas normally drink little water, because they get almost all they needfrom leaves. The firefighters called animal welfare officers to pick up the koala Sunday, the day after deadly firestorms swept the southern state of Victoria.Coleen Wood of the Mountain Ash Wildlife Shelter said today that the koalahad second- and third-degree burns but would fully recover."I've handled koalas before," Tree said. "They're not the friendliestthings, but I wanted to help him."
