In Limbo

I'm sure you've noticed that I haven't been spending much time on my blog lately. I don't know why, I can't put my finger on it.  I feel as if my blog is in limbo.

I can't pinpoint if it's that I don't have the desire to constantly update it...or if I have things going on in my life now that I'm not comfortable sharing. Maybe it's a little of both of those.  It's also partly because when I post I like to put a lot of thought into what I post, and thought takes time. I haven't had a lot of that lately.

For some reason, about a month ago I got a wild notion of starting a FaceBook page for Kona. Don't ask my why. It was just a silly idea. I thought it would be fun to see if anyone would "like" it.  Well, come to find out, I've had nearly 7000 people like it in just over a month! That's been a fun little project for me to play around with. Posting the pictures is quick, easy, and doesn't take much thought. I get the instant gratification of the people giving his posts the thumbs up.

It's been fun for me to watch his page grow. I guess speaking through him is like having a little alter ego. A sweet, furry, lovable alter-ego, that everyone seems to love. You can't knock that. If you are on FaceBook and want to check out his page, his link is Kona "The Love Sponge"

I've had plenty of stuff going on here, some really good, some not so good.  Such is life, right? I try not to dwell on the not so good, but sometimes that is easier said than done.  I'm sure it's like that for all of us.

On to some of the good.  Yesterday was Mother's Day.  I got to spend Mother's Day with my Mom, my husband, two of my children and my dogs.

 

We went out for breakfast, spent part of the day out and about, then came back to the house where I got some lovely gifts, and we enjoyed an afternoon of fun in the pool. It was a very pleasant, low stress, relaxing day.

I've got two big, exciting things coming up very soon. First a trip to Hawaii in just a couple of weeks that I am really looking forward to. I owe that to the fantastic company I work for - the RGT Group. Be sure to check out our new web site. www.rgtgold.com 

We are staying at the Sheraton Black Rock, which has some of the best snorkeling on Maui. 

I love to snorkel, and I am really excited about getting on my gear and hitting the water. So excited in fact, that I got it all out yesterday and did a little test run in the pool!

The other exciting "thing" happening soon is that our addition to the family will be coming home in about 4 weeks.  We paid a visit Saturday. Needless to say the puppies have changed just a little bit since I saw them last.

One of these 3 little fellows will be coming home with us soon.

 They had all had baths just before we arrived. They were cuddled and getting dry in towels SO cute!

So, as you can see, there are a lot of things going on. I've only mentioned some of the good here. There are more good things to tell about.  Fun, exciting things going on in the house. I'll try to stay focused on the good.  Promise. 

I'll do my best to keep up a little better, but please hang in there with me. I'm probably not going to be as consistent as I was - at least not for a while. Just too much other "stuff" going on. 

Skiing and GoPro Fun!

Santa brought our family a GoPro Hero 3 camera.  Today was the first opportunity any of us had to take it out and play with it. 

ITS.VERY.COOL.

Although I decided not to ski at the last minute (I'm still not feeling 100%, and didn't want to push my luck...)I still had a great time being out there with Hubby, AJ and Pickle.

480 Under Our Belts

It's just 1:20pm and we already have 480 miles under our belts today. We've only got about 60 more miles to go and we will be at the South Fork of the American River, where we'll spend the weekend white water rafting. I'm blogging from my phone and for the life of me I cant figure out how to upload a picture from my photo library to my post...oh well, that lesson will have to wait for another day. I've checked in with G-Ma and the pups are good. She's hanging with them this weekend and taking care of things for me. I hope she doesn't throw TOO big of a party while we are gone. Haha! Until I can sign back on.... C-ya!

Juneau The Capitol of Alaska?

I am spoiled. I'll admit that 100%. I am a lucky, lucky girl. This year for Mother's Day we had a lovely day out with my Mom, spent all day and evening together, and thoroughly enjoyed each other's company. Then she came home, and booked a cruise to take me, Hubby, my brother and his wife on with her.

How. Cool. Is. That?

We'd been talking about going to Alaska on and off for years now, and even had some semi-strong plans earlier this year.  Things happen though, and it didn't look like we'd be able to make it this year.

What a fantastic surprise it was to find out that Mom (with the help of my brother) took care of all of the arrangements, including the air fair to Seattle, and we are all set to go. Needless to say, I am VERY excited! Now I've really got to figure out all of the ins and outs of my new camera.  I will be in photographer's heaven! Let the countdown begin!!

Heading Out

Tomorrow I am heading out to Las Vegas for 4 fun filled days. I'm going to gamble, enjoy some time in the spa, spend time with family and friends, and just relax.

I just finished packing and I'm pretty sure I've packed enough "options" to last me about a month and a half. A girl has to have choices you know....

I'll update if I can, but lately my mobile blogging apps have been fussy. We'll see how it goes...

The Long Drive Home - part 3, the last leg

Sedona is absolutely stunning, and paradise for a photographer. Even though we had very limited time, I wanted to squeeze in a few minutes for photos. We got an early start, and zoomed around town and up the 89A north a bit to snap a couple before we headed south, towards Phoenix, and ultimately, San Diego. My camera snapped away, and although I didn't get a lot of keepers, these were a couple I thought were worthy of posting.

Once we left Sedona, it really started to sink in that this was the last leg of the trip home, and that I'd be walking into the house and seeing the left-overs of his room. Needless to say, I didn't feel much like taking pictures for a while. The tears came, and I let them.

Just as we were getting ready to cross the border from Arizona into California, I saw this, and picked up my camera. I liked the serene look of it.

And boom-back to California we are.

Am I happy to be home? Well, yes and no. I am happy to be back to my own bed, back to Bear, my folks, and the dogs, among other things. Am I happy to be in San Diego, when my son is in Indiana? No, not at all. Look for a new countdown clock coming soon to the side of my blog. His flight home for Thanksgiving has been booked and I'm already looking forward to it more than words can say.

The Long Drive Home-part 2

Yesterday was a very long day in the car. We left Oklahoma City in the morning, and finished up the day's drive in Sedona, Az. Hubby drove 897 miles yesterday and it took us about 13 hours. Considering we had a few stops here and there, we made excellent time!

On our way out of Oklahoma, we saw a lot of scenery like this



And lots of Route 66 stuff!


We crossed thru the Texas panhandle.


I thought about stopping to see if this little fixer upper was for sale, but decided against it...it was a little too new for my liking.


When people say that everything is bigger in Texas, I wonder if they mean the rest areas too. This one was HUGE!


New Mexico was next on the road, we drove across the entire state. Most of what we saw was very desolate.


I had to take a picture of this transport trailer for my friend Shirley. She loves Corvettes, and the guy was hauling 11 brand new ones.


Once we got past Albuquerque, the terrain changed and we started seeing some beautiful buttes and mesas.


I thought this little grouping of pueblos was pretty interesting.

By late afternoon, we were rolling into Arizona.


Again, just some gorgeous scenery.


As we headed towards Flagstaff we came across this monster of a cloud. The amount of water that came out of it was unbelievable! It felt as if were in a flash flood or something! It went from being completely dry to absolute crazy down pour in seconds.


With the rain came the beginning of a fantastic sunset.


We decided not to stop for the night in Flagstaff, and instead decided to go on to Sedona. Hubby had been there years ago, but I'd only ever heard about how beautiful it was, and wanted to see for myself. The drive from Flagstaff to Sedona was serene, and the smell of pine filled the car.


Our first peaks of the red rock were pretty cool.


We were racing the setting sun though, and with the fading light it was hard to get decent photos.


Not being able to get good photos only meant one thing...I'd have to talk Hubby into letting us stay for an hour or so in the morning so I could get some...and of course, once again, he obliged.


This morning was much better for my photo taking...more to come soon.
