A-Z Mondays - "S" is for Snow Skiing!

Since it's been so unseasonably hot here in San Diego lately (in the low 100's) I've had "cooler" things on my mind. I thought that if I maybe I looked back at cold weather pictures it would cool down my state of mind. That may not have happened, but it was fun looking at them anyway!

I present to you - Snow Skiing at Brian Head, Utah.

Gimme a Break!

It's that time of year again at Costco. August = Christmas trees! And by the way, it was 102 degrees here yesterday, and it's supposed to get warmer today - and they've got Christmas trees on display? GIMME A BREAK!

A Six Pack (of Gold) on the Beach

Valerie and I ventured to the Coronado dog beach today with the pups. It's been unusually hot here again (in the high 90's!) and it was the perfect day for a beach get away. We met up with a friend of mine, Sharon, and her pups, and needless to say, we all enjoyed the cool water and breeze. Sharon's pups had never been to the beach before, and it was a blast watching them enjoy themselves!
You can see, on the far left, the Hotel Del Coronado.
Ah, such a lovely day for a little get away!
Hey, where's that ball?
Enjoying the cool water!
Jack, waiting for someone to through the ball.
The sisters, Harley and Jill, having a blast!
You coming along?

10 hours done!

This past Friday Kona completed his 10 hours of supervised therapy visits. The paper work has been sent in, and within the next couple of weeks he should receive his official "Love on a Leash" ID card and vest, to show that he is a certified therapy dog. I am a very proud Momma, to say the least! He is such a good boy, just going with the flow, welcoming all of the different hands that reach out to stroke him, rub his ears, and just give him a hardy pat on the back. I think this is his niche.

Here is the photo I sent in for his ID card. To me he just looks old and wise, way beyond his (not quite) 2 years! Such an old soul for a young pup.

A-Z Mondays - "T" is for Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

Last week we had the unique opportunity to take the pups to a Padre game. Once a year the Padres organization allows dogs at the baseball game, and this is the third year in a row we've gone, along with others from the Golden group I organize. There were about 45 of us from the Golden group in attendance, along with about 150 other dogs and their families. One of the funnest parts of the evening is when they allow us to parade around the entire field showing off the pooches to the throngs of adoring fans.

Walking the track
there were quite a few of us

A pup's perspective...a ball park? Nah, just a lot of nice grass, and a perfect place to potty.
Getting settled in the seats
"Do we get hot dogs Mom?
Kona found a comfy spot.
Showing off - what a pretty boy!
The whole family enjoyed the evening out!
It was, as always, a Tremendously Terrific Time! (And to top it off, that Padres won!)

BBQ on the Bay

A couple of days ago we got together for a little evening BBQ on the bay with the pooches. Because the bay is not an off leash area, the pups had to stay hooked up all night, but after a nice long walk, nobody was complaining.

The group getting ready to walk.
Harley had a blast!
These pups almost look like they are ready run in the Ididarod!
These beauties belong to my friend Jessica.
It was a nice sized group - too many to shoot in one picture, being that I had to get close because of the lack of light...
A walk on the bay, burgers and brats with our buddies...and the perfect weather...you can't ask for much more than that!

An Unexpected Splash of Color

Do you ever have those days when the time seems to whiz by at an accelerated pace and you actually have to stop and think of what day it is and wonder how it got to Friday so quickly? Well, welcome to my world. That's how the last couple of days have been, a whirlwind of activity, appointments, things on my never-ending "to do" list.

For example, yesterday my day started before 7am, and by the time I got everything done, (including a doctor appointment, a very large grocery store run, a visit to a hardware store about 25 miles away, a couple of loads of laundry -still playing catch up since getting the new washer- and a trip to Laguna Beach with hubby for a business function) it was after midnight before we got to bed. Sheesh, set the alarm, and less than 7 hours and the next day starts.

In the midst of the busy days, I haven't had much time to be in the back yard. Oh sure, the pups are still getting their walks, and plenty of attention, but I haven't had time to just look around and take things in. I took just a moment to do that this morning, and was pleasantly surprised to see this lovely lily looking back at me.

It reminded me, if only for a moment, that I really should stop and smell the flowers once in a while.

On the News- the Video Version

OK, so yeah, I am a little proud of my pack. I brought 4 of the 5 Goldens featured in this news segment. The other pooch, Shad (in the lei) belongs to my friend and fellow meetup member, Sandy.

(sorry for the poor video quality)

On the News!

We had the opportunity to be on TV again this morning...well, at least the dogs did! We were asked to come out for a video piece on car safety for dogs, with a company called "Bark Buckle UP" for our local Fox 5 station.

I'll post the news segment soon, but here are a couple of pictures I took of our stars in action!

Here we've got Shad, a member of our Golden Group, Jack, and Jill....it was just a wee bit crowded...

Here are Kona and Harley waiting patiently...

Jack and a stuffed buddy are ready for their close up!
"This waiting stuff gets boring!"
All of the dogs were ready and waiting...and waiting...and waiting....
Get on with it already!
Finally, the camera man shows up!

Flash Mob Fun

My friends Merrill seems to come across the funnest little "flash mob" videos, and sends them to me.

I love this kind of random stuff, and found this one particularly fun. I hope you enjoy it too.

We must be special...

...because we sure get treated that way!
Thank you Merrill, for the wonderful box of goodies you sent!

A - Z Mondays, "U" is for "Up, Up and Away!"

"...In my beautiful, my beautiful BALLOON! "(be thankful you can't hear me singing - trust me on this!)

I saw these balloons not long ago taking off from a vacant parking lot, near a restaurant we'd just visited. It was early evening, and a spectacular sight being that close to the floating giants.

Someday I want to be on the inside of that basket...
